Three weeks from now my daughter will move back to Iceland. She and her brother were going back that day anyways (31st March)for a spring/easter holiday but due to her unhappiness we've decided that she will not return. She will instead go and live with her dad on his farm near Kirkjubæjarklaustur it will do them good I'm sure. I will miss her of course and I would have preferred to have her stay but it will be an experience for Óðin and me to stay alone together. Unnur has had the "privilege" of living alone with me now it's his turn :) Spring seems to be here now. The snow has disappeared and I actually wore just a t-shirt and a jacket today instead of the normal sweater and wool-coat. I did keep my lovely orange scarf on though since it is still a little nippy. Got to go groceries are here!!

annars er bara allt bærilegt að frétta... það meiraðsegja snjóar!

I've had visitors from Iceland here with me since Thursday (mostly) and it has been very enjoyable. We've had food from all over the world, Edda Lára brought with her Appelsín (Icelandic orange soda) which my kids really liked, I only got one sip :( so if anyone is about to send me a parcel I'd like more Appelsín and Gotti cheese. Scots are strange in the sense that they are obsessed with cheddar which is not good for cutting with a real Icelandic cheesecutter and just doesn't taste as well as Gouda. Or at least that is what my kids think, being lactose intolerant makes me stay away from dairy although I do fall for the temptation of tea and toast once in a while (going off track here sorry)...

Not much has been done outside of the home however we've really enjoyed being together and we've been playing cards and on Saturday we bought two puzzles so there have been sessions in that. We've taken turns on sitting at it and it reminds me of my childhood. It's my brain aerobics.

Well, well, I finally got my marks back for all the hard work I put in in January and I am quite satisfied. Of course there is deep down always the nagging feeling that I could have done better and if only this and that but the past is the past and this is what I reaped and I'll just have to work harder for the next few months if my aim is to top these marks.
Here they come: Digital Media = P2 (equivalent to about 5,5 - 5,9 in Iceland which can't be compared though because here teachers don't give marks over 75 unless it's outstanding work or so I'm told). In this one I got mostly good comments on my designs and stuff but had to write an essay on subject very uninteresting to me and I just handed in crap and got crap for it as well. But overall very satisfied with this.
Softwarde Development I = P4. Better than I expected in many ways but still I did work hard on it although I didn't manage to finish the whole thing since I ran out of time (and panicked at the last minute) but it's quite a good pass and is roughly 6,5-6,9. BTW this is Java programming and I'm doing Software Development II now and I'm actually quite excited about that.

Today I was told that I've not updated my page in a long time so I've decided to do so now.
My sister and her two sons stayed with us for 6 days and were supposed to fly to Iceland yesterday but due to engine failure they had to spend 12 hours at the airport until they were moved to the Holiday-Inn hotel in Glasgow and then FINALLY flew home this morning.
It was wonderful to have them - Lovyaguys.

I've been getting to know about all my coursework recently and wow do I have an interesting term ahead of me. All sound great and I can't wait to get busy with it. Igor, my Brazilian friend, came this afternoon and helped me fix my computer and finally we've been able to get rid of my Master Boot Record virus. Yay, thanks Igor. This blog is written in English on your behalf actually :) I might continue doing that since most of my readers back home will be able to read it but this way I'll expand my reader group to my friends that are Non-Icelanders.

Skólinn byrjaður aftur. Tölvan krassaði ... sólin skín ... dagga og gaurarnir koma eftir 2 daga ... allt er gott ...

allt gott að frétta af okkur hér - krakkarnir eru búnir að eiga stórgott félagslíf síðustu viku. Óðinn fékk vin sinn í heimsókn á laugardaginn var og fór síðan og heimsótti hann á sunnudeginum. Unnur fór á laugardeginum með Tótu (14) og Antoni (12) og mömmu þeirra í Edinburgh Dungeons og skemmti sér stórvel og endaði með að gista hjá þeim. Þau fóru svo í bíó í gær og núna eru þau í heimsókn hjá okkur. Alveg frábært.
Ég er búin að vera alveg upp fyrir haus í verkefnavinnu síðan ég kom út aftur. Og mér finnst þetta svooooo skemmtilegt. Hlakka til að halda áfram og fara svo að vinna við þetta og ég finn að mig langar alveg rosalega mikið að kenna öðrum að gera það sem ég er búin að læra að gera :).

en ég á enn viku eftir í verkefnum og prófum. Svo að næsta laugardag verður allsherjarhreingerning hér !!! Það er orðið alveg hrikalega skítugt hérna :)

Það er gott að koma heim.
Þó það sé í leiðinni skrýtið.
Ég missti fríið mitt eiginlega í heilsuleysi
en það var kannski bara það sem ég þurfti.
Hefði viljað hitta allt fólkið sem ég ætlaði að hitta
náði ekki að hitta alla því miður.
En nú er bara að horfa fram á við og ekki syrgja það sem er liðið og ekki verður breytt.

Jæja.

Eftir þrjá sólarhringa verð ég komin Íslands. Þetta er í fyrsta skipti sem ég er svona lengi fjarverandi frá hinu ástkæra heimalandi mínu síðan árið 1991 er ég dvaldi í Regina, Saskathewan, Canada. Ég var þar í fimm og hálfan mánuð og er núna búin að vera hér í rétt tæplega fimm mánuði. Það gengur yfirleitt vel. Ég átti erfiðar tvær vikur sem ég virðist vera búin að ná mér af. Það byrjaði á að ég fékk vefjargigtarkast (það versta í 2 ár) og missti svefn. Þegar ég verð þreytt (eins og allir) þá missi ég alla einbeitingu svo ég átti erfitt með að læra. Þá varð ég stressuð og kvíðin og gat ekki sofið og varð þá meira stressuð. Festist í "loop" eða svona Catch 22. Ahh við köllum þetta vítahring á íslensku :) Ég held að það sé gott að fólk (þið sem lesið þetta) viti að þetta er ekki bara dans á rósum, það er bara alveg skrambi erfitt á stundum en sem betur fer er ég umkringd dásamlegu fólki hérna bæði í skólanum og hverfinu.

Notalegur dagur í dag, Linda kom og við hlustuðum á jólalög, hún föndraði ljósaseríur með krökkunum og ég bakaði smákökur. Voðalega gaman :-)
Unnur er farin að telja niður í jólafrí og ég líka. Hlakka til að hitta fjölskyldu og vini!!
